                                        INSPIRE YOUR COMMUNITY
Inspiring your community by volunteering is one of the single most effective ways to stimulate personal growth, improve self-esteem and increase the capacity to lead one’s life and contribute to others.

Results from a recent survey indicate, “Half of Americans – and even more young adults – say that giving time is more important than giving money.”  Of 215,000 charities, an estimated 174,000 organizations use volunteers.

There is a desperate need for volunteers and Prosser is ready to take on a substantial number of new volunteers.  In this age of “go-go-go”, it is difficult for individuals to commit to serving.  A concerted effort will be made by this program to instill value and benefits for volunteers.  Value added events include recognition to the community of projects completed solely by volunteerism.  A thank you either verbally or written goes a long ways towards showing appreciation for a job well done.

In 2003, approximately 63.3 million Americans sacrificed personal time to volunteer. Think of the ways in which you could  schedule time to volunteer.  Your commit to serve will be rewarded. Most volunteers indicate they received much more than they give.  Take a few minutes today to sit down and map out your weekly schedule.  Can you rearrange that shopping trip or reschedule that lunch with a friend?  If you work full time, what about sacrificing a vacation day every once in a while.  Just 120 minutes of volunteering per week amounts to over 100 hours per year.

Ponder this . . . our nation is at war and the United States has not implemented a draft. Our soldiers are willing volunteers; risking their lives for our safety and freedom. In support of our troops, we should all work harder at building our future in our communities. The old cliché “you can make a difference” really is true when you volunteer.

Feel that community pride and sense of accomplishment like you’ve never felt before . . . . inspire your community.
