With final approval
for the $268,000 WSDOT grant, jointly applied for by Prosser EDA and
Benton County, the Horse Heaven Vista overlook can be restored so that
travelers can experience a specatacular view as well as enjoy historical
information, visitor guide signage and kiosks telling of it's historical
signifigance. The vista will have a parking area for all sizes of
vehicles, picnic area, geology, flora and fauna guides and indigenous
landscaping. A steering committee
consisting of interested citizens, Benton County representatives and
Prosser EDA Board was implemented. In February, the committee met at the
Vista location. A local surveyor, Bob Reynolds was asked to assist in
providing a topographical map. Bob generously contributed $1,100 to the
Vista project for his services. The map has been completed and is headed
for the county’s landscape architect who will be providing detailed
estimates of various components of the project. Prosser EDA is currently
seeking community members interested in developing signage and displays at
the Vista location. Please contact Prosser EDA at 509 786-3600 or email economicdevelopment@prosser.org. | ||||

Manufacturers Survey - Eleven surveys have been completed within the
Prosser area. These surveys averaged between 75 to 150 minutes per
business. Although the amount of time dedicated to this survey seems a bit
lengthy, think again. Valuable, detailed information was willingly shared
by company plant managers and business owners to further explain an issue
or expound upon future company goals. This confidential data will be
pooled with all surveys conducted in Prosser and used as a basis for
Prosser EDA’s strategy planning session. The businesses surveyed realized
this was an opportunity to express their struggles, concerns and issues
within the community. As one participating company indicated, it’s an
investment. An investment in a relationship with Prosser EDA and an
investment in the company’s future in the community. A very special thank
you is extended to those who took time out of their busy schedule to
participate. | ||
