Community Information

A Main Street Start-Up Community

Through the efforts of the Historic Downtown Prosser Association (HDPA) Prosser has been named a Main Street Start Up Community in the Washington State Main Street Program.  With the recent designation into the second tier of the program, dedicated volunteers are actively creating work plans in the areas of Design, Organization, Promotion and Economic Restructuring.

A vibrant surge of economic development in Prosser, has produced a flurry of interest and renovations to downtown are occurring.  Local building owners are using the Design Committees’ suggested palette of colors, remodeling outdated storefront facades and renovating their buildings inside and out.  The opening of new businesses and restaurants along with renovation of turn of the century buildings and the Historic Princess Theatre has produced a lively atmosphere and increased foot traffic in the downtown core.  Preservation efforts will continue and be a key component in the revitalization success of Prosser.

Lifestyle Amenities

Prosser offers a taste of small town life at its best.  Strolling downtown, there are art galleries, antique and unique gift shops, as well as quilt, jewelry and kitchen stores. A wide variety of fine restaurants are available for dining. The Benton County Historical Museum provides interesting artifacts, collections and antiques. Plays, concerts and special entertainment events are offered in the newly renovated Princess Theatre. There are major shopping malls available, only a short non-congested 30 minute drive, along with theater, music performances, professional sporting events and art showings.  If you prefer a visit to the big city, Prosser is centrally located within a three hour drive to either Spokane or Seattle, Washington as well as Portland, Oregon.
